Can anyone tell me what flower this is? It is growing wild by a drainage ditch. More are across the street.

Jeanna you will find this wild flower and the Trillium you were asking about earlier on the link below. As 2nd hand has said it is a tradescantia. The link is to a Wildflowers of North Alabama website. Please continue to show us your wonderful plants and flowers. http://www.briartech.com/earlyspring/spider/spider.htm

Scotsgran, that's such an interesting website! It's interesting to see things that are garden plants here listed as wild flowers, and to see the differences. Bluebells in Alabama are nothing like bluebells in the UK - except that they are blue, and bell shaped.

Try a Tradescantia andersoniana. Known as a Spiderwort here.
