If you leave them to die back naturally, they just go horribly soggy and harbour slugs and snails - go for the chop while they are easily handleable. Yes, they are invasive once they get going - as I well know!!!!

You can transplant pieces of root but they often take a year or so to settle down. But as spritz says, once they get going, they REALLY get going

If they are Anemone Japonica cut them down. Don't bother with seeds just dig a bit of root up ,they grow easily and can be very invasive.
