I have a plant with leathery stiff but shinny leaves, stems need support to stay up and it blooms. now here is the fantastic thing. the buds are clustered like and umbrella. they are pink and five sided. they open into a starshaped flower with hint of sweet sent. anyone knows what the name of this plant is?

Without a photo, Roy, we really don't have much chance of IDing it. It could be a clematis, or it could be almost anything else. Please could you edit your question and add one or more photos. We'd like to see flowers & leaves, both in close-up and a general shot so that we can see the shape of the plant - all reasonably in focus and not shaky.
Looking forward to having a go at this ID.

Just a guess here, could it be an Oleander? Julien.

So another question, Roy - whereabouts in the US are you and what is your climate zone?

Not ringing any bells for me I'm afraid, I'd need a photograph.
