Has anyone put their runner beans in yet...im in the South and ive had them in and out of my greenhouse for about a week hardening them off. The roots are peeping out at the bottom and really need to go in!

One of the gardeners on here lost hers last week because of that frost we had one night. Its a chance you take but the more we get into May the safer it is.

Give it least another week... bit like bedding plants, but at least you can replace those!

If you can find enough plastic bottle, jam jars etc to cover them at night if there's a clear sky you will probably get away with it. Mine have been in for over a week here in West Wales.

hubby put mine in for me yesterday and if frost is forcast i will fleece the wigwam.

Hubs put his in over the weekend, and if a frost is forecast, I will protect them for him with a load of cafe net curtain I have. 2 1/2' high lace, looks quite pretty draped round the base of the poles :-)

I put mine out three weeks ago and are covered with clear plastic sheet. There is always a risk of frost until the third week of May.

On the allotment i have noticed a few have put theres in already, i put mine in nrmally mid May, julien.
