RUST SPOTS ?

It's been a wet year all round.....
Has the wet weather (especially throughout the so-called summer) caused the rust spots on many of my plants...
If the Rust Spots are a plant desease ; What should i do ?
I have pulled up some small ornamental grasses, that were covered with rust spots and dumped the tatty looking plants into the bin (not compost).
With some plants, i've removed the affected leaves...
As i'm a novice at gardening, i've a lot to learn...
Am i doing the right procedure, with the Rust Spotted plants?
Please Help Me.

I suspect that it was the wet summer that has caused rust on several plants. My antirrhinums all suffered so instead of leaving them in, I've pulled them out and burnt them. My contorted willow also looks very sad, but our tree surgeon says it will be OK next year! I'm a bit surprised that grasses were affected - do you know what sort they were? I don't know if there's anything else we can do - we will just have to hope for a drier summer in 2009!
