Our cordyline ( potted ) has two stems, the head of the larger one is green leaved with a new flower appearing but the leaves on the head of the smaller stem have all gone brown and the new leaves go brown in a couple of days too - anyone know the reason why and what could be wrong ?

Check the trunk and stems, particularly on that section - its possible it was damaged during the very cold winter, so what you're looking for is anything soggy, or soft, oozing or rotting, slightly blackened, or sunken areas in the stem. If you find that, cut back beyond that point.

the frost must of got to it in winter . i would take the smaller one of in this case so the plant can put all its energy into the main plant myself .
