Hi Garden Lovers...I have had this Clematis for about 6years it has never been pruned because I am not sure when to do it. But as you can see it is gettin a bit big. So in your opinion do I prune it and when?? Also I have forgotten the name do you know that as well?? Thanks for all your recent help. Regards Cazoo

wow id be inclined to get it to grow bigger as it is such a lovley full shapely beautiful plant but thats just my opinion .maybe train it to go up that tree behind wear it is . it would look stunning once it grew up there and eventualy thin out at the bottom giving you the room you want and it wouldnt hurt the tree either .

I think this is Clematis montana 'Marjorie' - needs no pruning, but if you want to keep it smaller, prune the moment flowering is over.
