I have clematis, about 7 yr old in a terra pot, it is much admired as the large flowers are plentiful each year. At the moment the leaves are turning brown although it is watered well and now the flower edges are turning brown. Do you think it is pot-bound. I really do not want to loose it . I have also treated it for weevils as I have had trouble in the past with outdoor pots. Hope you can help Regards Janet

Most likely after 7 years it needs repotting, I'd have thought - but not while its in flower. If the container is just a mass of bound up roots, the plant will need watering virtually daily because there's not enough soil to hang onto the water.

How big is the pot, Janet? Next question - which Clematis is it? Do you prune it? Lastly, do you feed it regularly and change some of the compost each year?
Oh, and have you had strong winds lately - are the roots shaded?
Sorry for all the questions, but it all adds up so we can get an idea of the problem.
