I don't know what variety it is, but I think it looks dreadful - sparse, bare stems with very little foliage, although the flowering is good. Looks like it needs a good prune, a feed and a long drink. What's happening is the plant is flowering prolifically as a response to drought - many plants this year have and are flowering early and prolifically in the South, a phenomenon last observed in 1976 when we had severe drought. It's getting its flowering in while it can, as conditions are so extreme. Roses are usually extremely resilient and will withstand long periods of drought, although they may not look great during extreme weather conditions.

Thanks Bamboo. It is amazing how early this rose was in full bloom. It's a rented house, so I don't think anyone will look after it.
