Ive got a nesting box on the back of the house and theres 2 blue tits back and forth all day long with food in their mouths. You can hear the little ones chirping away (I so wish I could see inside there).
When do the young actually leave the nest? as would love to see them.

They can't take long, not sure how long, probably 6 or 8 weeks - our local bluetits have already had one lot and are probably breeding again - I had two recently fledged ones sitting on my balcony the other day, tiny little things, but full plumage in place.

Blue Tits fledge between 15 and 22 days after hatching and they usually only have one brood a year. Those in my nest flew on Monday after 18 days.

I reckon they're gonna try to pack in more this year - I couldn't believe how tiny the bluetits on the balcony were, so they must be this year's - first saw them end of last week. Must have been the very hot April...

Hi Cookygirl., aren't we lucky i too have chicks in my box, 4 at the moment, they are not far off leaving now ,i would say about the end of May.It's fantastic to watch them,Have you thought about getting a camera for inside the box, they are quite cheap off ebay and well worth the money.by the way when they go it's usually about 4.30 5.30 am.
