I have a contermpory patio that meets the grass. The patio area houses my table and chairs. I would like to add some planters and am thinking of having three in a row along the edge of the patio where it meets the grass. Can you tell me whether this would look good? what height of planter I should buy? and what plants should I consider?

Or scroll down to C for container plants. Last summer I saw lavender with trailing nasturtiums in one big trough in a garden I visited and it was lovely.

I'd like to know whether you want permanent planting in your containers, and whether they'll be in sun or shade, and which way your garden faces, also where you are in the UK (the latter two queries relate to survivability outside in tubs over winter)

There are several ideas that come to mind you can stick with the contemporary theme and go for modern containers and plants such as stainless steal planted with evergreens Box or Bay trees, a large tall empty pot can be dramatic and modern as can stones strategically placed or you could mix old with new and go for more colour in the pots and planting.
Why not take a look on 'Patio ideas' lots of members have dressed their patios.
