I just read in a magazine that you shouldnt keep fresh tomatoes in the fridge but it didnt give a reason. Does anyone know if this is true and why? cos I always keep mine in the fridge.

the flavours are better when slightly warm, cant beat the flavour when you eat them straight from the greenhouse :)
The fridge slows down the aging/ripening of the toms.

I remove salad veg from the fridge an hour before using. Tomatoes would go over very quickly in a warm kitchen. In the same way take your cheese for the cheese board out of the fridge well before you plan on eating - it will taste better!

I get Piccolo cherry tomatoes each week and it says on the pack to keep them out of the fridge to retain flavour. they keep well. In winter I keep my veg outside by the backdoor anyway. I don't think the fridge environment is as good as 'natural' coolness anyway.
