We moved into our home three years ago and we have a pear tree which we were told produced a lot of pears the year before. We read a book about pruning and did this according to instructions but there has never been any blossom on the tree at all. We do not know the type of pear tree so would appreciate any help.

It is a puzzle when this happens. Very frustrating. Fruit trees can be very capricious about everything they do!!!I have an apple tree....pyramid.... called Charlotte. She would not blossom. So I put a Clematis near to her to use the fruitless tree as a climbing frame. Result lots of blossom this year and some fruit set too. I wonder if the fertiliser/water/extra attention sparked her into blossom. I suggest you try the TLC bit...and see if that works
