Can somebody please tell me if I can grow a single blackcurrant bush or if I would need two, and also what sort of crop I would get (very roughly) from a single bush. I have very limited space. Thanks.

Crop depends on variety, age and sun/water available.

Thanks, I live alone so I would like just enough to make half a dozen jars of jam and a few in the freezer.

They are gross feeders so give it lots of rotted manure, compost etc. They do not seem to need a pollinator but I don't think you'll get six jars of jam plus some in the freezer from just one bush. But who knows - good luck anyway. They fruit on last year's wood, so cut out the fruited stems as soon as you have picked the fruit, to give them time to send up new shoots from lower down the bush.

« thanks to all for advice about cordylines. i won't dig 'em up yet!
They are reasonably self fertile so you could grow one. Not sure about cropping, we have a line of a dozen and get enough to last us 12 months and more.
