My dad has a Torbay Palm tree - 12 yrs old (roughly 30ft). Recently he has noticed that the bark from the bottom of the tree has started to fall off. Can anybody tell me why this is happening. Many Thanks x

Something's got under there or its been damaged - strimmer damage? Or colder weather than usual at some point? Check whether the bark or trunk is soft or soggy underneath, could be rot of some kind, or some kind of bark beetle.
