Do aqualegia only flower in the spring? I have only just bought one and was told it was almost over but will seed for next year. I was rather hoping for flowers all summer.

If you dead head them, then they will re-flower in Summer, but then you lose the seeds.

They self-seed very readily. I'm forever finding new aquilegia plants popping up in the border. I'll follow Owdboggy's suggestion and see if I can get another show of flowers.

Second lot of flowers are never as good as the first though. You need to cut the plant right back too, not just remove the flower stalks. The method is the same as used for Geraniums.

Wow I didn't know that Ob - probably explains why I have never had a second crop of flowers! How far back do you cut? right to the ground?
