robinia frisia

i have a 20yr old robinia frisia, this spring it came into leaf, as normal but now (mid may) its the leaves have turned brown and died, the same thing has happened to a small ornamental acer, is it worth leaving them in to see if they recover, regards

It is very likely that it was the very cold winter. So many people have lost so many shrubs etc. this year. I think there would have been signs of life by now . After all they would both have been in full leaf for many weeks now. Sorry.

yes i think that is why they died but i dont understand why they got new leaves, then they died. thanks for your reply
its been a wet old day but the rain is most welcome cut my grass yesterday so im just sitting back and enjoying a restfull day.

Normally, frost damage keeps deciduous plants from sprouting at all, unless the bark at the base has been damaged more than the top. I would consider drought a more likely candidate, though.
