Morning Glory would be a good choice for quick cover whilst something perennial is getting established, and Heavenly Blue is particularly nice.
This is what can be done with time and Jasmine.........

Ive got honeysuckle growing over mine and the smell is lovely in the evening but it has taken a few years to get to the stage it is, but as Meanie and Inverglen said morning glory until you get a perennial established.

Do you really want something that is going to smother in a very short time? I'd look at climbers that took longer and looked better. Problem with climbers that grow rapidly is exactly that they need a lot of pruning back.

What aspect is the garden (north, south) and what part of the country are you in?

Have a look at Ipomeia Heavenly Blue ( Morning Glory). Very attractive. You could combine it with another climber of your choice.
Scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on C and then climbers
