This is a very broad question. People on this site love to make suggestions to help you, and give ideas but we need some basic info first like:

Which way the garden faces,
what kind of soil you have (either take a soil testing kit from a garden centre or ask a neighbour who you know spends time gardening and has similar soil)
Also is it in sun or shade, exposed or sheltered etc.

All these things help build up a picture, and if you can post a photo or two, even better.

Do you want a low-maintenance arrangement, or planting that you will have lots of time to spend over maintenance?
