how can i tell if a sucker has attatched its self to my rose, i have some growth from the bottom of the rose that dos'nt look right

Just one point though, it hasn't crawled or flown in and attached itself to your rose, the sucker is growing from the root. It's part of the root tissue and needs to be removed as close to the root as you can get.

Suckers coming from below the graft have an extra pair of leaves, ie they come in sevens rather than fives, so you can always tell if they are suckers.

A photo would help Brenda but if the shoots are coming from below the graft then they are suckers and need to be removed. Just cut them off with your pruners.
