i have quite afew trailing strawberry plants what do i do with all the trailing bits

Either cut them off, or let them root. If you let them root, then you will have new plants next year. Strawberry plants have a productive life of about 3 years, so it pays to let the runners root.

I'd cut off some of the runners, as they may produce far more that you want. Pot up a few to grow on and cut off the rest.
