What damage do pigeons do? Would they eat off lobelia or is it rabbit damage?

I don't like them either. Actually, I'm not too keen on most wildlife at the moment! I suddenly have pigeons nesting in some of my trees and wondered if the rabbits were doing all the damage or if the birds were doing some of it but I don't grow veg.
Thanks anyway.

Its unlikely to be pigeons damaging the lobelia - unless they're simply pecking there to get at worms or something.

We have lots of wood pigeons that sit in the privet trees and eat the leaves. Then they sit in the sycamores that overhang paths and steps and unload the results. Nasty!!

We have wood pigeons too. Not too bad behaviour, as I do not grow veggies. I try to arrange it so that they don't commandeer all the food I put out. They are greedy birds, as so large. We have one that dozes on the RSPB hanging bird table, after a feed, to keep control of the table. The sparrows are allowed but not other pigeons. My brother hated them on his allotment, and so do farmers on young crops. Feral pigeons seem to prefere town centre!

Thanks for your thoughts. Perhaps I can't blame the pigeons for the damage, it is all the rabbit. Grrrr. I thought it was the most likely cause, it was just the lobelia was going in a raised bed that I had thought would be too high for the rabbit. He is obviously quite an athelete aswell as very hungry!

They feed on green vegetable and can ruin a cabbage or other brassica crop in a few days. They are also very dirty and deserve their nickname of 'flying rats'. (you may guess that I do not like them).
