What kind of soil does a prunus need?

Most of the Prunus family, especially plums, cherries and almonds with be o.k. in neutral soil but prefer alkaline (chalky) soil being stone fruit.

Generally, ordinary garden soil will do, but Prunus is a large group including cherries, apples, laurels, etc.
