I'd use a soil based plant compost ( John Innes no2 would do) mixed with some ericaceous compost. Water with room temp rainwater if possible.

Hi Codeythree, welcome to GOY, Gardenia, prefer neutral to acidic soil, so i would proberly mix a bit of house plant compost with acidic soil, to be honest Gardenia are extremly hard to grow, never had much success myself, you need conditions just write, if you have had this plant for some time and need to repot, then obvioulsy hit on right conditions, but i would wait till spring to do it, and chose a pot that is roughly and inch or two larger all round, obviously the soil level needs to stay the same. good luck.
