Well done Maj. Like most forums where sanity rules (what are we doing here?) somebody got the right answer. That is the beauty of discussion as opposed to somebody just trying to dictate.

P.S. to Maj. - I hate you. Lol.

John.

I wasn't at all sure that it was the Prunus, Tricia! Thanks for telling us.

You are welcome, by the way. MOST of us do really try to help. A belated welcome to GOY, by the way.

Ahhh how sweet you are Tricia, your more than welcome, and glad we managed to get there in the end for you, and yes just to confirm what Spritz has said, there are lots of lovely people here that are only too willing to help, and welcome by the way.

Fooled us by saying it had pink flowers. Could not find any upright Salix with pink tassels. Still glad you got it sorted. It is very frustrating sometimes when you do not know the name of a plant. Hope it moves ok for you. If you need to prune it at any time, then after the catkins have finished is the best time.

I have an upright Salix with pink catkins, although it is grafted, which is why i thought of it, can't remeber the latin name off the top of my head, but the common name is 'Flamingo Tree' think it is a new one Owdboggy, i could'nt find it in any of my book either when i bought it last year. i have pic's of it on my garden page, if you fancy a nosie, could be what you have Tricia? lovely tree though, nice varigated specled leaves cream and pale green, new growth is pink, pinky/red catkins and red stems in the winter. does this sound like what you have? if not i have seen other varieties simular.

The Flamingo Salix is usually 'Salix integra Hakuro Nishiki' Maj. Now fancy not being able to remember that. Lol. There are a couple of them, rescued from Wilko's loving care and lack of attention, on my photos.
