I need a low maintenance front garden so have laid decorative stones (or attractive gravel!) The garden is west facing and I now want to plant some hardy perennial evergreen shrubs amongst the stones, flowering or non flowering. Any ideas please?

And scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on E and then evergreen shrubs. Many pictures are in close-up so you will need to check on the size of the ones you like

I'd second Pieris and Skimmia (Drc has a typo above...), also Ceanothus - a low growing one would look nice. If you have acid soil, a small azalea - one of the evergreen ones.

Why not look on our 'Low maintenance gardens' page lots of members photos for you to look at.
my suggestions for you to consider (depending on your soil and conditions etc) are Pieris japonica, Ekimmia japonica, Hebe, Euonymus fortunei and Euonymus emerald and gold.
