Runner beans. Has anyone else had problems with the tips of the plants breaking off? Could it be the pesky sparrows who live in the garden. I have 5 out of 24 plants still intact!

I had the same problem and discovered it was the snails. Put a few snail pellets around the base and you will see if it's them.

But please make sure they are the wildlife friendly ones so that birds that then eat the slugs don't get poisoned. Alternatively put the slug pellets under a slightly wedged up plant pot.
