When should I prune a honeysuckle plant?

East Yorkshre, United Kingdom

I bought a honeysuckle plant last year and it grew quite well. In early September all the leaves dropped off so I left it. Recently new growth has appeared but only on the top parts of plant. So I do not know what to do about pruning.

Hello novice22, Welcome to GOY.
That new growth may well be frosted, leave it till the spring, pruning now will promote more young growth which you will also lose. Don't worry about it, they are hardy and should recover to give good results in the summer.

Hi Doctorbob1. Thankyou for your advice. I will prune the plant in spring and hopefully the plant will recover.
