My garden soil is made up of organic chalk and flint/stones, will I be able to grow a`salix integra`?? if kept well watered for the first year??I Live in Tring/Hertfordshire U.K. on the edge of the Chilton hills.

All Salix like a moist soil so I would think that you might have a problem providing this without an engineering solution. I guess that your chalk and flint soil is normally pretty dry so you could dig out a pit, line it with a pond liner that has some holes punched in it and then fill the pit with a soil containing more humus..
