Probably not but they will be stressed

Aphids are well known to transmit viruses to plants, apart from the other problems they cause by sucking the sap, so yes, plants could die.

Depends what kind of plants have been affected. You can do things like cut back, trim, etc. If the right sort of plants you can cut them down to encourage new growth.

If you waited to lat to spray then the plants may well be dead!

In summer I make sure that at least once a week we wash up our dishes in a bowl. I dowse my roses with the leftover water. This a a great cheap way of treating things, unless you are unfortunate enough to have a dishwasher of course ;-))

Only if you are using ecological washing up liquid Tetrach...

Sorry Moongrower, I have nothing but Fairys in my garden lol!

Then you are polluting your soil with the washing up liquid residue

Can you inform us as to what these chemicals are that are polluting the soil?
From what i can see, eco friendly products and the normal ones both contain high proportions of Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate.
What do you use that doesn't contain this?

The only safe "soap" is horticultural soap, and even that has to be used carefully.

I've just checked my bottle of Ecover washing up liquid and it does not contain Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate. Nor for that matter do any of our cleaning products or the products we use on our hair and bodies. I agree though that horticultural soap should be sued for anything other than a short term 'fix'.

I think this is a bandwagon we had all better alight from.

Obviously bottles of Ecover don't list the ingredients.
This is from the web site stating ingredients

Water Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate Alkyl Poly Glycoside C10-16 Sodium Chloride Citric Acid Perfume Limonene Protein Hydrolysate Aloe Barbadensis Extract Citral 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol

Just really don't know what the difference is between Eco friendly and fairy as the ingredients seem remarkably similar.....

You are right it does say that on the website and I am extremely concerned and will be asking them some serious Qs... So no, I have no idea why, apparently, it is okay to use Eco friendly and not Fairy! The hair and body products definitely do not contain John Masters stuff is as organic as you can get... He was wanting to create a totally organic hair colour and had to accept it simply isn't possible.
