Some of my frinds tomatoes have a sticky sap oozing from them and have started to go brown and rot anybody any idea whats wrong.

Definitely sounds like blight to me. Remove all the tomato plants and destroy them, wheely bin or burn, do NOT put in compost. If in grow bags on containers get rid of the soil too. If in the ground don't plant tomatoes there for at least four years.

it sounds like blight, if it is then the plants need destroying. see if you get the same diagnosis from other members before geting rid of them.
