Can anyone please tell what this plant is that a friend has growing in her garden. It stands now at 6 foot and began to flower last week. She has just moved into the house but the ground previsaly was the garden of a large old victorian house now knocked down. Thanks... Jim

yes mine is also being striped by the mullien moth. its is a lovely plant and a prolific self seeder.

That's Verbascum olympicum - otherwise known as mullein. It's on the wild flower / garden flower border. The lovely furry leaves on mine are being skeletonised by stripey caterpillars.
