There is Ranunculus adeonus ssp. alpinus, a plant from the mountains in Idaho and Wyoming, and there is the European Ranunculus alpestris. For your question it doesn't really matter because both grow in wet, grassy and stony ground flowersing as the snow melts. A difficult garden plant, probably best grown in the alpine house.
