can you take cuttings from the standard green hedge, that does not flower?

If you mean Ligustrum ovalifolium (privet) then hardwood cuttings in winter, unless its one of the varieties, when semi ripe in early to mid summer are best.

Hi, privet does flower!!, it,s just that they usually get trimmed before they get to that stage, they have a lovely sweet scent which fills the air, although they,re a non-descript flower, try leaving the trimming until the end of july!!!! regards derekm.

Maybe Valerie means a cupressus hedge? Are the leaves sort of feathery or are they small smooth and oval?
