Thanks Drc726. I was completely wrong as usual, its all fleshy and bouncy so I just thought ice plant type...ignorance is bliss!

Nope it is a sedum but would need to see the bottom of the plant properly to attempt an i.d.

Sedum rupestre -ones I have seen grow in UK are smaller and thicker - must be all the sun in France!

Thank you everyone....it is about 35 cm high now and started small, gradually getting taller while new shoots come out from the base gradually spreading outwards.
