They are circles around the stem and are very dark green,almost black and flat to the stem

Well hopefully its just scabbing over, so to speak, from where you cut, but I don't recall mine doing that. Did you repot it? Because it looks as if the top of the roots are exposed, where they come out the base of the stem...

Yes I did repot it in fresh compost I will just have to keep my fingers crossed then

How long does it take for the stems I cut off to root? No signs yet !

Hmm, might not work then, Jackson... I've noted before its much more successful and quicker in Spring. Am currently waiting for a Schefflera sitting in water to root, and its been 4 weeks already and no signs yet. Give it a bit longer if you can bear to, and keep the water topped up, but if nothing by September, I'd give up.

The stems are sprouting beautifully I have transplanted them in new pots and compost and looking forward to having three new babies! Thanks Bamboo

Unfortunately, the focus of the pics is on the pot and bottom stem, so the appropriate parts are blurry - can't tell what the black bits are.
