Roses: I want to add a splash of colour to my shrub border which faces north west, do you think a couple of roses would surfice in a mixed shrubbery, I particularly like a Mattock Rose, Pink Perfection, any ideas please has anyone else experience of this rose, is it quite hardy and desease resistant. Thank you Jilly

As its bred by Kordes, who are very good at producing disease resistant roses, a good choice - but only if the surrounding shrubbery is less than a foot high for a distance of 3 feet around the bush. Roses need airflow, so as long as you keep the planting around it low, it should be fine.
