Does anyone know what this plant is please?

Are you talking about the purple sycamore -type leaves? It's Acer pseudoplatanus "Atropurpureum" - purple sycamore.

Nearly correct, it's actually the purple form of the Norway Maple, Acer platanoides 'Crimson King'.
