Problems with Leaves

Hi there, my neighbour has a very large oak tree next to our garden and each year it drops 15 / 20 bags full of leaves onto my lawn! Any one got any practicle suggestions on how I could stop this? e.g. netting etc?

Could I suggest you regard it as free compost. My neighbour and I have a goodly number of trees and he donates his leaves to me. I shred them and spread them over the beds and woodland area, hopefully increasing the beneficial effect of the natural course of events.

Pile them in a chicken wire enclosure each year and enjoy the free leaf mould. It's brilliant stuff and worth the work.

Following on from three of us saying rot them down or use them, an easy way is to run your lawnmower over them with the grass box on it, and then they rot down quicker!

You could ask him nicely if you could cut back some branches if they are over-hanging your garden - it's actually your right to do so wihout asking, as long as you return them to him! I always think that courtesy is better than .upsetting people, though! That would cut down the number of leaves in your garden a bit.
I really don't think that nets would be feasible - you could always rot the leaves down to make leaf mould! I know that raking leaves is hard work - I do it every year - but it is good exercise as well.
