I planted a fatsia japonica in a tub in the spring and it has been a beautiful display. The last few weeks I have noticed irregular shaped holes in the centre and edges of the leaves. I can't see any insects and it still looks healthy. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This often happens to Fatsia from damage by tiny insects when the leaves are embryonic in the buds. Nothing can be done now, but you could spray with a systemic insecticide such as Provado Ultimate Bug Killer to prevent it happening again. Spray in the evening after the bees are in bed, though.

Looks like caterpillar damage to me.
