Hi,
I have a lovely palm which has grown and sprouted many a new trunk, one is getting heavy and would need proping up soon but I would rather cut this trunk off, is this ok and where is the best point to do this.

Wherever you cut it, you will likely get 1-6 branches coming out. You can thin them later to your preferred number.

Would have been best to do it in late spring rather than now, but if you want to risk it, you can. It's just that cutting like that may encourage lots of new growth which is then very vulnerable as the weather cools down in autumn and gets cold in winter. Cut at an angle to allow rain to run off - either cut at the base, or halfway up, or whatever you decide.
