Finding a plant of it to grow in your garden in South Africa could take some searching on the internet, though it is possible that garden centers in Johannesburg might have them. If not, I would double check the noxious weed list for S. A., to make sure you wouldn't be trying to plant anything illegal! Note that many of the hotter areas in S. A. will be too hot for this shrub, too.

Umm... do you mean where do they grow as a native? It is is native to countries in the western and eastern Mediterranean such as Spain, Portugal and Turkey and also occurs eastwards through Asia into China. It is not native to the UK and is viewed as an invasive shrub.
