hi gardeners when is the best time to severely cut back climbers from a pergola as the weight is getting too much for the structure ? and i might be below !

Depends on the climber concerned - were it a Montana clematis, for instance, cutting now means now flowers next year, should have been done immediately after flowering. It's also not a great time to do any hard pruning - this will encourage new, soft growth which won't be hardened sufficiently as winter approaches, but again, it depends what plants you're talking about.
