My sister really likes my hostas. So I thought seeing as they are all big and healthy can I split them? How do I do this and what time of year is best? Any tips much appreciated.

If they are in the ground you can use two garden forks back to back to gently prise the roots apart.

Hosta,s can be divided in march, just as new growth begins. derekm
