I have had some outside all winter, but they are sheltered behind the shed, plus i have left some in the ground. Geoff Hamilton used too so it should be ok for me.

Mine have been outside all the time since I planted them - I am hoping that they have survived! I just had no room either in the greenhouse or the coldframe for them.

I see we use the same filing system, Maccrimmon ... !

filing is relatively easy when you are off work sick and not able to garden for weeks. :[
now i've started doing it properly I'll try and keep it up.

Ive had lilies in pots and containers for 2 seasons now, and they have been outside thru the worst of Scottish weather, they were just fine for me, ( see pics )

I have lilies in containers in Moray and they withstand the cold. I would suggest that they don't like to get too wet during the cold winter so would benefit with some overhead cover, unless it doesn't rain so much in Lanarkshire (grin)

I'd put them in the garage or somewhere like that to keep the worst of the cold off. depends on which lily it is of course.
