how far apart do you plant impatiens

l have not tried to plant impatiens in the ground before, only ever used pots to grow them.

I would plant them closer than that, Bernie - maybe
20 cm - so that they create a carpet of blooms. I don't find that the 'ordinary' ones spread out that much, not like the new species, which will need more space. They are being advertised over here and are more expensive, of course!

Having grown many of these in my gardens here in Oz I can only offer advice from my experience - which may not be too different to growing them in the UK - I plant them about 30cms apart.
