Moving Peony to new house
United Kingdom
Hello, I am about to move house, early March. I have some peonies which I wish to keep for sentimental reasons. If I dig them up now and plant in pots are they likely to srvive. If so what is the best way to do it?

Only thing to remember is that they hate to be planted deeply. The bud at the top of the crown should never be more than an inch below the surface.
If the garden is ready then you could plant them straight away.

I did this several years ago with plants from my late mum's garden. I put them in a washing up bowl (4 weeks) with drainage holes as i couldnt find pots big enough. I planted them into the garden when i got the ground ready. the only problem was the clump split into 2. I have 2 beautiful clumps now. so it can be done. good luck with the house move too. hope you are moving to a nice garden too.

Hi Mrsjackie, welcome to GOY.
Dig up your Peonies, put in pots with plenty of drainage, grow them on this year in the pots. Plant out in your new beds in October.
