i have a rodadendrum in a large pot and want to transfer it to my garden when and how do i do this so i don,t kill it

Hi Myplumb check the pH of your soil first, if its acidic pot it when the soil warms up a bit. if its alkaline you might be better leaving it in the pot as you will have to keep top dressing the soil with ericaceous compost too.

You could do it in the the Spring or the Autumn. The best thing to do is look when they are most popular in the garden centres and that is usually a good indication of when you can plant things.
I usually plant large shrubs in Autumn and smaller ones in the Spring. Make sure you use a good ericaceous compost and mulch well around the soil level and plant with small bark chippings. If you plant now it will ensure the moisture is kept in and if you plant in the Autumn it will provide some protection against frost
