SNOW ON MY FLOWERS YIKES!

Hello,
We have had some surprise snow and low temps. the past couple days and I wanted to know if it will hurt the things already blooming. Is there something in particular in my plants that should be covered with something. I love snow, but not on my flowers.

Hi Sid ~ Thanks for the information. If it gets too thick on the hedges etc, I will get the hoe and shake the bush to get some snow off. I've been in the hospital. I have an unknown lung problem and lots of testing and rules until they figure it out. And no, I've never even tasted a cigarette. LOL

Hi Harli - sorry to hear that you've been in hospital. Hope they sort you out soon. Think of the snow as a protective blanket for your plants - much better than frost! As you say, shake it off the shrubs and evergreens in case it breaks a branch. We have gales and heavy rain here, so no gardening!

Thanks Spritzhenry ~ We had Spring last week and got a lot done, but the Pacific NW is one of those places that if you don't like the weather, wait a few hours.

Hi Harli - sorry to hear you are unwell, but don't worry about the garden, it'll look after itself untill you are feeling better, I'm sure!! Sid.

Hi Harli - long time no see on GoY! Really depends on what sort of flowers you have out. Generally, spring flowers are pretty tolerant of this sort of weather. I would be more concerned about larger shrubs, which can be crushed by the weight of heavy snow. Particularly conifers and hedges can be pushed apart be snow. looks from the photo that it's not too heavy tho, so wouldn't worry too much. Take care, Sarah.
