Hi, can anyone tell me what this plant is called. I bought a tray of them from a market and there was no discription with them. Also do they come up every year, do they seed themselves or would I beable to collect seeds from their flowers?

Have you tried wintering v bonariensis in the green house Pimpernel? I have tried V peruviana but it didn't work.

Bonariensis used to over-winter outside quite happily for me in my old garden Linda.

I understand the verbena pictured is an annual. They may set their own seed, and certainly have a go at collecting the seed. they are a small and compact plant.
V bonariensis is a tall perenial though it is short lived. It self seeds freely in my garden.Though I lost the parents in the last winter. New seedlings are growing well. Then there is V hastata which is some where inbetween in height.

I find V Bonariensis is fine in the ground over winter but I do protect the crown with a thick mulch.
